I Support Sen. Barack Obama!

I wholeheartely support this Chicago brother. However, outside being a Chicagoan, this man has truly taken great strides in his political career, with full integrity, to address the needs of ALL citizens. There are no limits, no boundaries, no barriers that can stop him. I'm am proud to be a supporter of a true American Icon. This is the closest I've seen ANY political figure work so diligently for the people, yet remain true to himself. This has been an incredible year.

Interesting Choice of Words

Tell me if anyone saw the exerpt from the Fox interview with Jesse Jackson. Apparently, he was a little too anxious for the commercial break, thinking his mic was off, he said the most hateful, inappropriate thing about Sen. Obama. He said, "I'd like to cut his nuts off". What type of crap is that? It makes me ashamed to be a member of Operation Push/Rainbow Coalition. We tend to overlook/forgive the indiscretions of our political "leaders". But this one takes the cake. At least for me it does. Does this mean, I don't mind infidelity, NO. It's sad to say but cheating has been far more commonplace than hateful rhetoric. Words can last a lifetime. In saying what he said, Rev. Jesse Jackson brings back to mind, all the other BS he's been caught up in. The same thing goes for former President Bill Clinton. In the wake of his wife's campaign trail, and controversial activities within her camp, Bill returned to stirring up a little more controvery himself. Now, even though no one can ever forget his statement, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman", his recent choices blemishes his credibility even more. On the flip side, they are all only human. We have standards, set forth in this country, of which these people have "earned" the title "leader", that NO ONE follows. We are blindly walking into a world of hedonism and complacency. In saying all this, we have to remember where we stand in this country, in this digital era. We truly have the power to make a change. We spend time flirting and playing games online. Why not take a moment to address the real issues. Remember, the pen (in this case, the keyboard) is mightier than the sword. Don't be scared. I'm not.

Let's Talk about Sex

In this day and age where information is available with the click of a button, I am horrified to find that STDs are still transmitted rampantly. What's more alarming, the number of trasmissions are increasing with people over 40. What does that say about us? I simply see it as carelessness and over-confidence. Check this out. We have been hit with stats indicating that the HIV virus continues to spread consistently with people under 30 years old. Here we are, in our 40s, dating people 10 - 15 years younger, with no consideration of using a condom. Moreoever, aren't we supposed to be role models for those who are younger than we are? If I was still in my teens, I see people in their 40s living a hedonistic life and showing no indication of illness, I would probably feel that STDs only occur in "special" circumstances. Actually, I wouldn't. I never was one to follow behavior that just didn't seem right, but I needed to create a hypothesis. Anyway, what the hell is going on? I don't know about anyone else, but I KNOW how to say NO, and believe me, I have seen rage as a result, but so what. What's he going to do, kill me? Have I made poor sexual decisions, HELL YES. By the Mercy and Grace of God, I have been spared. That's a strong wake up call for me. At our age (40s and some) we need to be better prepared in our approach to sexual decisions, activity, and overall health. Tell me what you think.
