As you all most likely know, I like to keep up with current events, check out what's hot and what's not, and I also have this thing inside me which questions societal daily choices. Check this out, I was reading about the growing need for smaller cars. You know, we have to conserve gas and get the very best mileage we can overall. At the same time, we are extremely overweight. Picture that for a minute. I'll wait...................................Here we are buying tiny cars fitting upwards of 700 (or more) pounds in this vehicle, at any given time. That car is working hard as hell to perform. Now, tell me where the savings occur.
We'll start with that one, but trust me, I have soooooooo much more to talk about, lol.
I created this blog as a component to a previous website. I have since given up that site, as I am not selling site building services anymore. However, I still feel the need to share thoughts and feelings about various community situations and welcome full sharing!

When?
Exactly what will it take for us to grow up and stop grabbing onto the first opportunity to wallow in anger, rage, hatred, and ignorance. There is nothing to fear about clarity, knowledge, exploration and discovery. Our rights are as fragile as we continue to allow them to be. It's time to use our heads, use our ability to grow and reach our full potential, and function as citizens of this country instead of lying in the misery patch of immobility we created. We suffer self-imposed limits. Yes, I said it. We do well, and that's it. We look down our noses at our brothers and sisters who are still struggling, yet admiring those who have "made it". It is our God given duty to give. How can anyone truly feel prosperous, within your soul, if you don't know what it feels like to share? Actually, how can you truly feel properous if you have never been without? Prosperity, particularly given our current economic state, is relative. Share knowledge, share experience, share wealth, share compassion, share skill, share warmth, share whatever you can, just make it something which will help the next person positively. I have the great opportunity to witness situations I can only shake my head at, yet each one reminds me of a time when all I did was complain. I have no money, no assets, no extravagant "toys", but I am truly gifted with a wealth of warmnth and understanding. What I can share, I do completely.

I Support Sen. Barack Obama!

I wholeheartely support this Chicago brother. However, outside being a Chicagoan, this man has truly taken great strides in his political career, with full integrity, to address the needs of ALL citizens. There are no limits, no boundaries, no barriers that can stop him. I'm am proud to be a supporter of a true American Icon. This is the closest I've seen ANY political figure work so diligently for the people, yet remain true to himself. This has been an incredible year.
Interesting Choice of Words
Tell me if anyone saw the exerpt from the Fox interview with Jesse Jackson. Apparently, he was a little too anxious for the commercial break, thinking his mic was off, he said the most hateful, inappropriate thing about Sen. Obama. He said, "I'd like to cut his nuts off". What type of crap is that? It makes me ashamed to be a member of Operation Push/Rainbow Coalition. We tend to overlook/forgive the indiscretions of our political "leaders". But this one takes the cake. At least for me it does. Does this mean, I don't mind infidelity, NO. It's sad to say but cheating has been far more commonplace than hateful rhetoric. Words can last a lifetime. In saying what he said, Rev. Jesse Jackson brings back to mind, all the other BS he's been caught up in. The same thing goes for former President Bill Clinton. In the wake of his wife's campaign trail, and controversial activities within her camp, Bill returned to stirring up a little more controvery himself. Now, even though no one can ever forget his statement, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman", his recent choices blemishes his credibility even more. On the flip side, they are all only human. We have standards, set forth in this country, of which these people have "earned" the title "leader", that NO ONE follows. We are blindly walking into a world of hedonism and complacency. In saying all this, we have to remember where we stand in this country, in this digital era. We truly have the power to make a change. We spend time flirting and playing games online. Why not take a moment to address the real issues. Remember, the pen (in this case, the keyboard) is mightier than the sword. Don't be scared. I'm not.
Let's Talk about Sex
In this day and age where information is available with the click of a button, I am horrified to find that STDs are still transmitted rampantly. What's more alarming, the number of trasmissions are increasing with people over 40. What does that say about us? I simply see it as carelessness and over-confidence. Check this out. We have been hit with stats indicating that the HIV virus continues to spread consistently with people under 30 years old. Here we are, in our 40s, dating people 10 - 15 years younger, with no consideration of using a condom. Moreoever, aren't we supposed to be role models for those who are younger than we are? If I was still in my teens, I see people in their 40s living a hedonistic life and showing no indication of illness, I would probably feel that STDs only occur in "special" circumstances. Actually, I wouldn't. I never was one to follow behavior that just didn't seem right, but I needed to create a hypothesis. Anyway, what the hell is going on? I don't know about anyone else, but I KNOW how to say NO, and believe me, I have seen rage as a result, but so what. What's he going to do, kill me? Have I made poor sexual decisions, HELL YES. By the Mercy and Grace of God, I have been spared. That's a strong wake up call for me. At our age (40s and some) we need to be better prepared in our approach to sexual decisions, activity, and overall health. Tell me what you think.
